tishoumaren
what it is
Style of electric guitar-led North African music, which has grown in popularity since the existence of Malian group Tinariwen, and generally features a smaller line-up than more traditional styles of Tamasheq music. Other artists known to adopt the style include Group Inerane and Tartit. Some groups fuse this Tamasheq basis with other styles, either closer to western rock and psychedelia or in a fusion with the music of other ethnic groups of north Africa (such as Etran Finatawa who play a blend of Tamasheq and Woɗaaɓe folk).
