beat bruxaria
what it is
Beat bruxaria ("witchcraft beat" or "sorcery beat" in Portuguese) is a subgenre of Funk mandelão that was originated in São Paulo's suburbs and favelas in the late 2010s and early 2020s. It is characterized by more aggressive, distorted and high-pitched Electronic beats (estoura tímpano, meaning "eardrum rupture") with minimalistic percussion and diversified sampling. The bruxaria sound is typically hybrid and eclectic, taking influences from multiple Electronic Dance Music genres and transforming them, as if the DJs were "magicians", mixing raw repetitive instrumentation with Funk brasileiro's vocals and lyrics in a musical "cauldron" (hence the genre's name).
